View from Beziers Cathedral precincts, looking north along the river Orb
to the Monts de L' Espinouse in the background. Looking to the south one sees
the Canal du Midi and the Fonserranes staircase lock system, with the Pyrenees
clearly visible on a clear day. Beziers is a fascinating town to spend a day
wandering around. Make your way up to the Cathedral precincts to take in this
fantastic view then relax in one of the surrounding cafes or restaurants with a
drink or meal and soak up the atmosphere of this historic town.

Grau du Roi just down the river from Aigues Mortes. A canal was built between
the two towns in order to ensure provisions could be delivered easily to the
royal family when they were in residence at Aigues Mortes. Now a pretty fishing
port and tourist area but still manages to retain much of its fishing village
charm.

Aigues Mortes, one of the more well known of the Camargue towns.
Very busy now with tourists in the main season but still very much
worth a visit, and if you should be there when the bulls are run
through the town it will make for a spectacular day.

The Etang de Thau, a large land-locked salt water lake situated between Cap
D'Agde and Sete. There are several small towns situated along the shore of this
lake which are well worth a visit.

At the end of all that activity its nice to just sit and have a coffee or maybe
something stronger. This picture was taken at the end of November, when
although not hot, it was still warm enough to sit outside and enjoy a relaxing
coffee in the sun.
