Cap D'Agde 's Richelieu beach is the closest beach to apartment 1 and is just
10 minutes walk from the apartment, mostly through wooded parkland. The beach
is large with golden sand which gently shelves into the sea and even at peak
season there is still plenty of space for everybody. During the main season
Restaurants/Bars
set up on the beach itself making it possible to remain on the beach all day.
Walking to the west one comes to the Rochelongue area of Cap D'Agde which is
the
most recently developed area. For those who like to walk, continuing west will
eventually bring you to Grau D'Agde (about an hours walk) where the Herault
river
meets the Mediterranean. Here there are many restaurants and cafes
where a weary traveller can rest with a drink or meal gazing over to the
Spanish coast
and the snowcapped Pyrenees in the distance.

This shows 'The Lagoon' part of Cap d'Agde harbour which is on the route of
the 'Coche D'Eau' (the harbour water bus). One must cross the Lagoon via a
bridge on the way to Richelieu beach as this is the shortest and most scenic
route to the beach. Dotted around Cap d'Agde there are a variety of beaches,
from large ones like Richelieu to smaller more secluded ones tucked away in
little coves.

Cap D'Agde 's black volcanic sand beach of Le Conque. This is a small beach
accessed via steps and a tunnel. Popular for snorkeling around the rocky parts
of the shore. This beach is a longer walk being on the opposite side of the
main port but still only about 30 minutes. Or take the 'Coche d'Eau' (water
bus) which runs around the port stopping at various places. The Coche D'Eau can
make a pleasant boat trip around the harbour and can be taken as a water bus to
save walking or as a round trip it makes a great way to see the harbour area
from the water.

Cap D'Agde 's main port area is only 10 minutes easy walk along the
pedestrianised
quayside. With its many shops, bars and restaurants, there is something to
offer for all tastes
and budgets. Also, due to the close proximity to the apartment one can leave
the car behind and sample the excellent (very reasonably priced) French wine.
The main port area is also the place to take a boat trip. There are a variety
of options from the Glass bottomed boat which just goes out of the harbour to
'Fort Brescou' or 'Le Conque' for a look at the fish, to the large sailing
boats, to the motorised launches which offer day or half day trips to various
resorts along the coast, including trips to Agde by sea and river. It is even
possible to hire a boat to take out yourself, with a variety of sizes available
depending on the depth of your pockets.
